5 months of work in my spare time and 704 pieces later, the engine and transmission are finished. This was a complex and time consuming beast.

As it is, there are plenty of details such as power steering pump, alternator, air conditioning compressor, and many other small details that aren't included. But, I had to draw the line somewhere in the interests of getting the Gallardo finished.

The engine and transmission are constructed from a variety of materials. Firstly, a general structure is put together from parts hand-cut from 5mm foam core board. Then, various 1000gsm cardboard details are added. The whole thing is then spray painted silver. Once the paint has dried, many more pieces cut from 285gsm silver metallic card; 210gsm black card stock; and even black drinking straw sections for the coil pack wire shielding are added to create all the details you see.

The Lamborghini logos on top of the air boxes were cut from 285gsm silver card by my Cricut Maker cutting machine.
