Lamborghini Gallardo Page 4
Superleggera LP 570-4
- ‣ Rear wing parts, 29 in total. All cut by hand. Plans for each part are created with Adobe Illustrator.
- ‣ Here's what the completed rear wing looks like from the above and underneath. The simulated carbon fibre parts are made by first creating a carbon-fibre style texture in Illustrator, printing the parts photo paper, then cutting them all out by hand. It looks quite simple but it's actually made up of 29 separate parts.
- ‣ Here are plans for the eight separate parts I designed for the rear-end panel. Once folded and glued together, the piece forms correct three dimensional shape.
- ‣ Rear-end panel that sits between the two tail lights. Eight separate parts come together to create the right shape. The badge is drawn in Adobe Illustrator, printed on photo paper, then carefully cut out by hand.
- ‣ Parts for one of the Gallardo's doors. All cut by hand. Plans for each part are created with Adobe Illustrator.
- ‣ One of the completed doors. Outside (top) and inside (bottom). The inside will soon have an interior door panel fitted.
- ‣ Parts for the driver’s side rear-view mirror. 12 pieces in total. All cut from paper and card. The carbon-fire look is made by printing the texture on gloss photo paper.
- ‣ Driver side door mirror, ready to be fitted. Each door mirror consists of 12 parts, all cut by hand. I made a carbon-fire texture in Illustrator, and printed the parts on gloss photo paper.
- ‣ Body finally finished! I'd spent several months designing hundreds of parts for doors; engine cover; and rear bumper. Turned out nice!
- ‣ Another view of the completed body. I'd spent several months designing hundreds of parts for doors; engine cover; and rear bumper.
- ‣ Another view of the completed body. The front trunk lid, doors, and engine cover all open and close, just like the real car.
- ‣ Instagram Story to let my followers know that the body was finally finished. Still a lot more to build before the rest of the model was complete though!
- ‣ The completed body with me holding it for scale– it's a pretty decent size!
- ‣ Another angle showing the completed body, with the front trunk lid, doors, and engine cover open.
- ‣ Side-view showing the completed body, with the front trunk lid, doors, and engine cover open.
- ‣ Rear three-quarter view. Doors and rear bumper were next on the list to be designed and built.
- ‣ Rear three-quarter view. I wanted to make the petrol filler cover functional, but I needed to keep moving on more important things.
- ‣ Tail lights fitted. Super happy with how they turned out.
- ‣ Passenger’s side tail light. Ready for fitment to the car. Sweet.
- ‣ Parts for one tail light- all hand cut from various craft boards. The red tail light lens is clear acetate plastic (same as I used for the car windows) sprayed with Tamiya clear red.
- ‣ Rear fenders are complete. Outer body panels are cut from thin, shiny foil board. Mesh grills for oil cooler intake openings are hand cut from black paper. Tricky confluence of angles and surfaces in that door-jam area. Turned out great though.
- ‣ A view of the underlying structure I’d designed for the rear fenders (passenger’s side rear fender in this pic). Next I'll glue on the outer body panels, and the rear fenders will be done.
